Phonics

Phonics

Students have enjoyed developing their phonics skills this year in a range of ways.

We were able to create a brain link between speech and action to boost blending and encoding abilities. This method of learning has been very successful and interesting.

Logical learners equally enjoyed using the whiteboards to encode and decode various words during in-class activities.

Since we love playing games together; Bananagrams has been a wonderful resource for helping students with their sound-letter recognition and blending. This, in turn, turns them into more confident learners and aids their spelling abilities.

Additionally, students were able to take charge of their own learning on the iPads and practice what they had learned with the Virtual English Classroom. This platform was designed to encourage Self Directed Learning (SDL) and provides students with access to many appropriate links such as SpaceTown Go and other phonics resources.
